A live broadcast of a memorial concert for Maya Plisetskaya, from the Bolshoi Theatre's Historic Stage on November. The event is dedicated to the legendary ballerina and her husband, composer Rodion Shchedrin, as part of the "Maya and Rodion" festival.

The program will feature a variety of performances, including excerpts from ballets, choreographic miniatures performed by famous dancers, the famous "Carmen Suite" by Bizet-Shchedrin, and black-and-white archival footage accompanied by a symphony orchestra. Excerpts from the memoirs are read by Ilze Liepa and Evgeny Mironov.

About

On November 20th, marking the centenary of Maya Plisetskaya's birth, the Bolshoi Theatre will pay tribute to the great ballerina with a grand gala concert. The evening will also honor her lifelong partner, the distinguished composer Rodion Shchedrin, who wrote the music for many of her ballets. In a poignant twist of fate, Shchedrin passed away just two and a half months before this date and the concert, whose program he had personally helped to plan. The gala will serve as a powerful opening chord for the grand "Maya and Rodion" festival, to be held in Moscow and St. Petersburg by the Bolshoi and Mariinsky theatres.
